Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley, wrote on Instagram ahead of the trailer’s release that the time is right for a biopic about his father. He said that while people may know Marley’s music, they may not understand what he went through or what shaped him into the person he became. Ziggy continued in his post, saying that the film was shot at the actual places where Bob Marley lived, played football, and sang, such as Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston. He said that the film is an artistic creation that the Marley family is proud of, and that they want viewers to be entertained and inspired by it. He also said that they hope the film will inspire not only longtime fans, but also the younger generation, by giving them a way to explore Bob Marley’s life and music, and in so doing, expand his universal message of unification, justice, and peace throughout the world.
